![]() David Lane is forever in my heart. I met David in Mainz, Germany, he was a private working in the Bn Bar, had not been to jump school yet. He and I came to be good friends. I left the 1/509th and went back to Bragg for SF school, then when I got to Charlie Company there he was, as big as life. He was mine and Richard Guthrie's rear security man for a lot of missions even though he was a truck mechanic. I loved knowing he was back there. David died suddenly of a heart attack, I got to up to Canada and meet his family. I got to meet his twin boys, both are veterans now, Sean was wounded in Afgan. They both carry their fathers name well. David and I extended and went to Australia and had the time of our lives. God bless you my friend I will always be your friend.

![]() I knew "Heavy Drop" well. He picked us up at the airstrip when we flew into Ranger camp in '70. In fact he qualified me to get my military driver's license, so I could drive the old man around when I left the field. He was a fine man. I will miss him. Rest in peace brother. You will always be in my heart as a warrior.
