Message from 75 RRA
I received this massage from Rick Barela today. I post this as some may have known Cpt. Myers.
All
It is with a heavy heart that I pass along information on the passing of CPT Dickey L. Myers who had served in D Co 75th. Ranger Myers passed early on Wednesday morning 14 Mar 2018. He served two active duty tours with the United States Army; the first one1969-1971 as a Ranger in Viet Nam and the second one as an officer at Rock Island Arsenal, IL.
CPT Myers married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Ruth Duff and vowed their lives to each other in holy matrimony. Capt. Myers never missed an anniversary, when asked how he remembered he replied, “It was Custard's last stand.” From that union two beautiful children were introduced into this world, Melody Joy and Robert Lee. He left behind his wife of 46 years Deborah Ruth and his two children, Melody Joy and Robert Lee, his sister Joyce Anderson, his brother Terry and wife, Pat Myers, and brother, Steven and wife Terri Myers; as well many Aunts Uncles, nieces and nephews.
Family visitation will be held at the main offices of the Council of Churches' 627 N. Glenstone, Springfield, MO on March 27, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.; Memorial Services will be at 10:00 a.m. At the same location. Final burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd. Springfield MO.
The family would like to give their heartfelt tanks to the staff from the Veterans Nursing Home located in Mt. Vernon, MO for their loving and kind care of Captain Myers.
Let us not remember how he passed but how he lived and gave of him to his brothers. Ranger Myers did this not for any personal gain but what he could give to his ranger brethren. These are what we should measure him by. Now passes another true ranger to his new patrol base with the big ranger in the sky. Rest in Peace Rangers Lead the Way.
